This is an excellent restaurant. I've been here 3 times and got the Mediterranean Wrap each time because its quite awesome. Try it! It's a cozy little restaurant with not much seating. I like this place a lot more than Apollonia which is right down the street from them. My only complaint is that this place does not accept credit cards and I'm going to get preachy about it right meow because I find that very annoying. I'm a small business owner so I understand them not wanting anything to eat into their margin. I definitely sympathize with that thought. But... did I somehow accidentally time travel back to 1985 when buying lunch with a credit card was a new and novel concept? They do accept checks which is quite rare nowadays. More proof I'm a time traveler. Call me McFly. And if you don't have cash, you can make like a tree, and get outta here. Today when I went to Gyro Co I finally asked the cashier why they don't accept plastic and was told exactly what I assumed I would be told... that card transactions are pricey for the business and they want to keep their prices low for customers. I was told that their customers are used to using cash so it's not a problem for them. The cashier is probably correct that their customers are used to having to use cash. That's because they've pushed away the customers that want to use a card so... they are no longer customers.God bless this place and I want them to succeed, but someone needs to get a business degree here. Of course not accepting credit cards is hurting their business. Tons of people don't even carry cash. A couple months ago two of us from my office were about to go there for lunch when we both realized we didn't have cash, so we went somewhere else. Say bye bye to what would have been roughly $15 from two patrons. So, rather than have that sale and give the card processing company their cut of less than 75 cents they missed out on the sale completely. And that was just one occasion with only two people. Gyro Co can't see physically see how their policy is harming their business which is why they have this cash policy, but this archaic mindset is indeed hurting them. Running cards should be considered a necessary cost of doing business and they are making a big mistake by not factoring that cost into their pricing. There is a reason that roughly 100% of their competition is also accepting cards... it's because accepting cards is GOOD for business because customers want to use them. Perhaps they should try to negotiate better pricing with their vendors so that they can run cards and not raise their prices. They're missing out on a ton of business! If they ever do begin to accept cards it will take them a long time to see the benefit of it because they'll need to work hard to get the word out that they've caught up with modern times. If people don't realize the policy has changed it won't do them any good. It's such a simple concept I'm amazed they don't understand how bad their cash policy is. Gyro Co prices are pretty low, and charging roughly 20 to 30 cents more per menu item would cover the cost of card processing, depending on what kind of deal they receive from merchant services. They also don't have a website or online menu further proving their refusal to leave the dark ages. With all that being said, I will continue to eat here when I have cash on me, especially since its so close to my office. I should probably explore some more of the menu finally!

Get the Donar Kebab. Same as Gyro, only on Bosnian bread. BEST gyro place in STL, very friendly, and incredible food. Sriracha available, which is impossible for me to resist-- great on the Donar Kebab. Cash only. Little table room, but who cares. It's the best.

one night my girlfriend and i got a craving for gyros and found this place had great reviews, so we gave it a shot. i'm glad we did! hidden at the corner of Gravois and Allemania Street, it can be a little hard to find. there is a McDonalds and Schnucks across the street. they don't have their own parking lot, but there are a few lots nearby that you can park at and walk. i think we parked at the First Bank just a few buildings down the road. this is a charming LITTLE place! there's seating for only about 8 - 10 people, so i imagine you might want to take your dinner to go when they're busier. it was pretty quiet on a friday or saturday evening though. the friendly counter attendant took our order, and we soon had our gyros. they were delicious! definitely one of the best gyros in the area. my only complaint is that the portions were just a little too small to satisfy us. so we tried some cheesecake. it was also very good (and a huge slice). we will definitely be back in the future!

This place is always just the best. I've gotten the doner kebab almost every time I've come here because it's just so perfect! Plus, a big order of fries is only $1! Very filling and very satisfying :)

For starters, I've actually never liked Gyro's before this experience. My mind has completely changed! My biggest problem with gyros in the past have been the meat was always tough and chewy, or the bread wasn't quite soft enough. At the Gyro Company, these problems won't even cross your mind. I had the chicken gyro, and I was shocked at how flavorful, moist, and tender the meat was. The bread was also really soft. I find sometimes Pita bread can be a little hard and chewy, but not here! I also tried a little bit of the donor kabab which had everyone raving on Yelp. They weren't lying! Everything was absolutely delicious. We had some fries on the side and those were tasty as well, though it was the gyro that I was excited about. Everything on the menu was pretty cheap, but I'm glad people mentioned the fact that they don't take credit cards so I could grab some cash before heading over there. It's a small restaurant, so I wouldn't bring a big group unless you planned on taking it to go. What a wonderful find!!! I'm excited to go back sometime to try more of their dishes and desserts!!

Everything I have ever had here has been spot on. The hummus is spectacular and the gyro' are always great. Not too far from home so I go in every few weeks. The only thing I don't like is how small the place is, so I often just get it to go. Yummy even cold.

Two words: doner kabob. Holy amaze balls. I love it. Love the gyros too. But I always go back to the dk.

based mainly on the reviews on here and the nod from a friend, i ventured to the gyro company w/ a friend on christmas eve to get me this doner kabob i've heard so much about. DIDN'T DISAPPOINT. i get that it's just a gyro on a roll but oh, that roll. the meat was cooked and seasoned deliciously, the tzatziki was plentiful and a nice balance on the sandwich too (i don't really *do* tomatoes and wasn't sure if they used red or white onions so i went w/o any veggies). oh, did i forget to mention how their fries needed no seasoning or catsup and were crispy and taster's choice as well? they were. what makes this place so great and gets all of the stars offered besides the food is because they have some damn friendly staff. my friend who i went with wanted to hug the guy who helped us, that's how sweet they all were. also, when's the last time you wrote a check for a meal? i like that in a place, what can i say. get thee to the gyro company.

Delicious! very nice Bosnian bread for the doner, excellent spices on the falafel. nice feta cheese and yogurt dressing. consistently great!

I had a great experience at the Gyro Company this weekend. The place is kind of hole-in-the-wall, and pretty small inside. While there is room to sit and eat, we ended up taking ours to go. I had to try the Doner Kebab because I'd read so much about it from previous Yelpers. It did not disappoint!! The meat had such a good flavor and was in abundance. The tzatziki sauce (which was also in abundance) was creamy and had a fantastic flavor as well. My friend got the chicken gyro, which was delicious as well. The meat is so well-seasoned, it blows my mind. Also, their pitas and breads are so soft and wonderful. We also both got "small" bags of fries, both of which were really quite large, for $1 each! We both left with a ton of food and spent less than $8 - so awesome! I can't wait to go back to try their pizzas, wraps, different gyros, etc. This place is a diamond in the rough!

I find the Gyro here the best in St. Louis.

This place does Turkish street food right!!! After falling in love with döner kebap in Germany, I came back to the states and searched for years to find anything close. Greek gyros really don't cut it because I'm not a fan of tzatziki. I even tried a popular Turkish restaurant that served me really expensive, overcooked, and dry döner meat, but this Bosnian restaurant has been my salvation. It's perfection--the bread, the yogurt sauce, the meat.

A gem in south city! I was introduced to this place by one of my customers. The gyros are excellent, but you must try the doner kabob. It is basically a gyro, but instead of a pita, they serve it on a light, fluffy, bosnian bread. It was featured in Sauce magazine this year. They also serve a variety of wraps that are huge. There are only about 7 tables in this place, but I usually am able to sit and eat there. They have one heck of a carry out following. They also have a variety of desserts, so dig in!

  • melinda a.

Super yummy gyros! Always busy now that the masses have found this S. City gem.... I always get the gyro with the feta cheese upgrade.... never disappointed! In addition to the lamb/beef gyro meat, they have the Turkey spindle which isn't easy to come by. Tasty tasty gyros! The felafel I tried once ...it wasn't very good but I don't go to the Gyro Company for a felafel. YUMMMY

Best Gyro in town, love the Doner sandwich! Owners very nice!

  • Doug R.

I'm no gyro aficionado, but my mouth likes this place. The gyros are really good here. It's a bit inconvenient that this place only takes cash, but this is a smaller business, so I'll let it slide. Also, I would highly recommend ordering one of their many desserts. I've tried their tiramisu and baklava, and both were amazing.

    (5)
  • nyree k.

OMG! Best gyro i've ever had! This place has never let me down...that's hard to say even about your favorite food places. When i worked across the street from here i would go here at least once a week for lunch (all my co-workers as well). Way cheap and the ingredients are always fresh.

    (5)
  • Allison O.

OMG- yum. and cheap. and did I mention, YUM? Tiny hole-in-the-wall-kind-of-place-you've-probably-driven-by-a-million-times-but-never-noticed... delicious perfect weekend lunch. Wish I saved room for the baklava... or the chocolate cake (there was a lot of chatter about the chocolate cake while we were there; apparently it was DELICIOUS, and only two bucks a slice!) We'll definitely be back. My husband was there once before; was there while someone else ordered a pizza (cheese and sauce on a fresh pita... which I'm sure is delish, but probably only on the menu to appease kids that wont eat a gyro). The owner (?) asked if he'd been there before; he said no and the owner offered him a taste of the meat for the gyros... and the guy ordering ended up ordering 'whatever gyro had the most beef.' Seriously good. Bring cash... they don't take cards. And save a few bucks for dessert.

  • G D.

This is one darn good gyro. I've had the "supreme" twice now, and it's just the right amount of food for lunch. Next time I'll try the baklava. CASH / CHECK ONLY

  • Bash A.

I love this place and eat here probably once a week. It's family owned, and they are very nice people. The gyros are about as good as they come. They do slice the meat rather thin, but that's my only complaint, I personally like gyro meat sliced a little thicker. Excellent fries, great baklava, and cheap!

    (5)
  • Lisa C.

I have to thank Kelly B for so many great reviews. This one was spot on. I had a gyro supreme (jam-packed with gyro meat and feta) and small french fries. The gyro was superb, but you know what? The fries were perfect...a little salt, crunchy, and not greasy. I enjoyed them almost as much as my sandwich. They have gorgeous desserts, but I was stuffed. I'll have to try the chocolate cake or baklava next time.

    (5)
  • Xanthia R.

Very tasty gyro and falafel. The pita is good but mine was a bit hard from microwaving. If they had schwarma my husband would live here ;) The fries are really good too.

this place is nothing short of phenomenal. everything on the menu is fantastic i'm sure, but the only thing i have had, many times over, is the doner kebab. this cross between sandwich and gyro is all the rage in europe, and while living there a few years back, i became completely addicted to them. since coming back to the states, i have looked far and wide in many cities for this heavenly food, and though many places have offered it on their menus, they were merely imposters. i expected the same when i read about this place and entered through the door. but the doner kebab at the gyro company is THE REAL DEAL. if you've never had one, do yourself a favor and check it out. you will never turn back to the gyro. Also, i highly recommend that you get a little sriracha drizzled in with tzatziki they put on the doner.. if you've never experienced the combination of these two sauces, get ready for your life to be changed. the establishment is charming but no frills, family staff is very friendly, and as previously mentioned, everything is dirt cheap. great baklava to boot. my only complaint is that it closes at 8. doner kebab makes for incredible late-night cuisine...

There are two kinds of people in this world. Cash people, and plastic people. The plastic posse is often exiled to a haunting and lonely world, shunned by exclusive hippies trying to stick it to the man. The cash clique rules, the figurative bouncer at the doors of many hidden gems, deciding whose money is good here, and whose money is no good. I've tried to get into Club Gryo Company before, but alas I was turned away. Your money's no good here, you credit card whore! How dare you swipe that Visa in here! Why do you need to finance a gyro anyway??? SCORN!!!!! How many times have I driven by longingly, the fact that I can't have it making it seem that much sweeter. How many times have I tried to scrape together ten dollars in Washingtons, only to be assailed by Girl Scouts trying to sell me cookies, their asshole parents reminding me of the time they donated to some stupid-ass 5K I did for charity. How many times have I almost made it out the door when suddenly, oh no, Suzi shattered her pelvis, the office is taking up a collection to send her flowers. DAMN YOU, SUZI, and your shattered pelvis!!! So after months and months of careful planning, stacking my cash, I finally scrounged together enough raw green for a trip to Gyro Company. I dodged every coworker that came my way. Avoided eye contact with bums on the street. NOOOOO I DON'T HAVE ANY CASH LEAVE ME ALONE. I'm such a liar. I am SUCH a liar. I DO have cash. I actually do. The secret double life I was living that day exhilarated me. On the surface, I was just a normal yuppie who uses a credit card to skate through life. But little did anyone know, I actually had a wad of paper in my pocket as thick as... tracing paper. I somehow found parking on the street by GC. Clearly they don't want their customers to be able to park their cars or pay for their food. Amazingly, they were open, and I tentatively opened the door, this time not assaulted by a "cash only" sign. We can get into the Gyro Company. We can get into the Gyro Company! Gyro Company! Gyro Company! Gyro Company! Emilio!!!!!! I just stood there, staring at the menu. With ten dollars in my pocket, I could practically get anything I wanted. I wasn't to be distracted by the overachieving dessert case full of drop-dead gorgeous cakes (red velvet, chocolate, carrot, baklava, and tiramisu). Spinach pie. Gyro. Fork it over. PAYING CUSTOMER! Odd that their cash only sign is no longer prominently displayed. Wait. What? You finally took a giant leap into 1999 and started taking credit cards?!?! Are you serious?!?! Welcome to MY club, Gyro Company. While you're a little less exclusive now, you just jumped to the top of the "where should I get a gyro in St. Louis if I don't have any cash" list. Now THAT'S exclusive. I settled into their cozy "dining room", eating my giant gyro with tender meat and average tzatziki sauce. I had to eat quickly, though. That ten bucks left in my pocket wasn't going to spend itself. A whole world of prehistoric businesses, refusing to get with the program, were waiting for my patronage. While Gyro Company never could have lived up to my expectations, it was everything I hoped it would be. They're family now. (P.S. Their credit card machine was down the day we went in, so the cash actually did come in handy. Also, this place is not owned by Greeks. Pretty sure they're Bosnian. Gyro-type foods aren't just from Greece, people!)

I've been to this little restaurant multiple times over lunch and always had a good experience. I've had the doner kebab and the baklava. the doner kebab is served on this fluffy circular bread that's warm and slightly flaky on top. The gyro meat is sliced right in front of you and they put plenty of lettuce in the sandwich. The rest of the ingredients get overpowered by the gyro meat and the delicious mayo-based tzatziki sauce. It's a little blander than most tzatziki sauces I've tasted but still delicious, and it brings a light creaminess to the whole sandwich. It's a good portion for the price. The baklava is standard - good but nothing out of this world. I should probably try other things on the menu (they do sound good!) but I know that doner kebab is going to be good so that's my standby. The decor and finishes inside are simple and clean. There's a single TV and the tables seat 2, maybe 3, and 4 can get crowded after you steal seats from other tables. But overall, a great lunch place.

Best gyro in town. One of the cheapest as well. These guys do it right. Family owned and run business. Everyone's very friendly and welcoming. Very good baca lava for dessert though you probably won't have room with these portions.

Second time I have been to the Gyro company and the sandwiches are great. I just wish they would grill the pita bread. The first time I went the pita was grilled and it was really awesome.

I live in San Francisco, so it is difficult to crave this place, knowing I cannot satisfy that craving. I visited my bf in STL this past spring and he brought us home the doner kabob (his fave) and I went along with it, even though I'm not crazy about gyros or anything similar to that type of food. However, the doner kabob is AMAZING. The bread, the melt-in-your-mouth meat, the tzatziki sauce - sooo good. Unfortunately, San Francisco (and basically all of CA) does not have a large Bosnian community (small ones here and there, but no restaurants :( ) so we do not have doner kabob-serving places. This makes me a sad Panda. Y'all are lucky!!!

    one dynamite donor kabob!

  • Jennifer C.

Absolutely Awesome! Ordered the Gyro Deluxe. First of all, it's huge! I only got thru 1/2 of it and ordered an extra pita to go for all the extra meat I had. Flavors were really good. I loved that fact that the meat did not have a "gamey" taste which I often find when eating gyros at other places. It's not a full sit down restaurant, but there are small tables available if you choose to eat there.

    (5)
  • Chris B.

Easily the best gyro meat in stl. You can actually taste that there IS lamb in it. Doner Kebab is the way to go.

Outstanding gyros! Service was a little strange as they were slow and standoffish with me but fast and polite with others in there that were also Bosnian/Greek. I think I read that its owned by Bosnians. The food however was very good.

My lettuce in my to go salad was soaked in water. Black olives, no kalmata olives. Bad salad. Tiramisu fabulous, but schnucks does well with that. Go to so co gyro, much better

**AMENDED REVIEW** It is awesome and deserves five stars. Everyone, go. Original review: After visiting Berlin last summer, and basically living on doner kebab and water filched from the restrooms in free museums (hey, that is an EXPENSIVE city), I have been on the search for doner kebab in the United States. I don't know why it hasn't exploded here, since it's the perfect marriage of flavorful gyro meat and amazing, puffy, chewy (in this case) Bosnian "lepina" bread. I heard about The Gyro Company on r/stlouis and I'm glad I did. It's an easy drive down Gravois (right near the River Des Peres), and it was quiet when we went around 6:00 on a Wednesday evening. It's a little place, but it's very clean. We ordered two doner kebabs, and a large order of fries. With drinks, our total was around $20. We sprang for feta on our doner at 75 cents, but the sandwich is GIANT and around $6, and it's worth it. Yum. I knew the doner kebab would be delicious, but I was shocked that the fries were even good. I mean, they are obviously frozen, but those people know how to season and fry things. A large order (plenty for two people) was $2! The only reason I haven't given The Gyro Company five stars was that we had a very weird exchange with the young girl at the register. It was exceptionally awkward and she was not very friendly. As we were talking to give her our orders, she interrupted us and kind of stared into space and then said something in Bosnian to the woman carving the meat. It was...odd. There was a creepy guy in front of us in line, and I think he made her feel very uncomfortable (he was talking and laughing at her in Bosnian, so who knows what he said to her), so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on this one. ALSO: I noticed in other reviews that The Gyro Company only takes cash. Well, at some point they got a Square reader, so they now take credit cards!

Small joint. Maybe four tables of 4. Nice chill case full of beautiful desserts, including baklava, carrot cake, red velvet cake and other delicacies. I entered saying I've never been here before and asked what's good. Very friendly man mentions the gyro supreme (which is what I got for $6.78 including tax) and the Doner kebob -- explaining that the Doner kebob is the same ingredients as the gyro, but with a puffy bread, unlike the pita. This was one dang good gyro. Luxurious pita, delicious and abundant gyro meat, feta, tzatziki sauce, red onions, lettuce and tomato. Quite generous! No way to eat this without knife and fork. No problem. The gyro was my siren, so that's what I got. And thinking back, I certainly could have gotten the Doner kebob, except I kept hearing in my head, "Donner, party of 6!"

Love the gyros and baklava!!! They are the best in town! Can't beat the food and the people are very nice. But who only accepts cash???!!!!??!!! VERY INCONVENIENT!!! Would go more often but don't carry cash! If they took other forms of payment (I would even say bartering is a better bet than cash when it comes to me). But the food is delicious!!! The gyros are the best I have ever eaten . The meat is tender and full of flavor. The pita bread is soft but not doughey. And I could eat the baklava all day!!! They have odd brands of fountain drinks. I had never heard of any of the fountain drinks. If you want a gyro you should go here!!

Just like they make in Sarajevo! Try everything, it's authentic, amazing Bosnian food! I had the doner kebab, some baklava, and I can't wait to try their cevapi!! :) So happy I found this place, I'm definitely going to be a regular.

Have eaten here twice in 2014...once in February and once in March...This is a small shop with a small eat in area available. Very friendly and helpful counter workers...ordered the gyro (very good), fries (good lots of them in an order), spanikopita (good but seem to lack something), and some tiramisu (good but i have had better) for dessert...2nd visit tried the Doner Kebab (EXCELLENT)!! Definitely worth a try!

Yum! This is the fourth time we have visited The Gyro Company, and they have been consistently excellent. The meat is carved fresh, and the tzatziki sauce is delicious. It's a small joint, so it can get cramped around lunch. They're very fast though, and they recently started taking credit cards. Overall, can't go wrong--good food, good service.

Service is great, food is great. Parking... Not so great. If you get there at lunch time you will have to wait, but it is worth it.

I went there this afternoon after a visit to Grant's Farm. We live on the other end of town so this place is way too far for us. But I had read all these reviews and being a big fan of middle eastern food, and having tried most places in town to varying degrees of success, this one was on top of my list of places to visit. We did a carryout, Doner Kabob's, and man was it good!!! I have had different variations of Gyro's in this city and this one definitely is among the best St Louis has to offer.. I am a fan! Now I just need to find enough excuses to visit Grant's Farm often! :)

Best gyro ever!! The meat was very tender and the bread was outstanding. They do take plastic now as well as cash and checks. Small place with about 6 tables. You wait a little bit for your food but it is well worth it. The good and bad thing is this place is 7 minutes from me. This could be dangerous LOL If you like gyros, stop by here you will not be disappointed.

Giant pile of meat check. Amazing delicious super great bread? Check. Feta, onions, lettuce tomato/tomato? Check. Best sandwich on Gravois? Check. Crap I forgot about the Tsaziki (sp?)sauce. Crap that ruins my whole ingredient? Check flow of things. The Gyro Company is an awesome place to grab a gyro which are amazing or try the doner kabob which is a new sandwich to me. The ladies behind the counter are always cranky, which only adds to the charm. For less than ten bucks you get a good sandwich, gyro, etc... french fries and a soda. BEST deal on Gravois!

  • Sean H.

This place is amazing. Wife loves their chicken gyro, which she loves. Ive had the regular gyro, and it's awesome... nut now I always get the Doner kabob supreme (with feta cheese)... which is a gyro sandwich on amazingly fluffy, locally fresh-baked Bosnian bread. Deliscious! Nothing compares, anywhere. We used to live in Holly Hills and would eat here once every couple weeks. Now, I get take-out and pick it up on the way down 55. Cheap prices... they now take credit cards, as well, so that's nice (even though back in the days of 'cash only', the guy working the counter would give you an IOU or "pay me next time" if you didn't have cash on you). Very limited seating inside... maybe enough or a dozen people... and only one free refill on fountain drinks.

One of the few places I have to visit when I'm in St. Louis. While the Donner Kebab is good, the turkey sandwich is fantastic! The magic is the bread they use.

Fabulous hummus, awesome spanakopita and generous portions for the money. Everything is prepared right in front of you, so it isn't the fastest service, but it is definitely worth the extra few minutes!

  • Chris Z.

The gyro and doner kabob were great. The doner kabob comes on a fresh, hot, big roll... and all the ingredients were yummy. The gyro is good portioned, and their meat is flavorful. I sampled some of their chicken gyro meat. It wasn't nearly as good as the beef. Not accepting credit cards is nuisance.

  • Kerry B.

Great little place I stop in for lunch all the time. Eating there or taking back to work, it's fabulous no matter what. I highly recommend the donor kabob - the Bosnian roll they put it on is AMAZING. Never had a bad thing there and it's super fast. Enjoy! PS - They don't take credit cards, make sure to have cash or check!

This one time, I had a hangover, and only a falafel would cure it. Yes, I know. You are supposed to eat cheeseburgers and Doritos's and mountain dew. But, on this well hungover day, all I could think about was loads of tzaziki sauce drenching crispy balls of fried green falafel balls and pita bread. I live about 3 blocks from TGC, and reading all of the rave reviews on Yelp about it, I thought I'd try it out and see if I could fix my aching brain. I think it was lunchtime on a Thursday and the place wasn't that busy. Of course, being the child of the debit card age, I did not have cash, and thus had to leave the store and get some. Dutifully I came back to get the Falafel I had ordered. But, this is not why I give two stars. My two stars are for the dark brown lumps of mash that turned up in my pita. The lettuce, tomato, and tzaziki sauce were spot on, but I just did not like the taste of the falafel at all. Maybe I'm spoiled with Pita + falefel, but TGC's falafel had a dark meaty taste that was nothing like the light, flavorful crispy balls you get from Pita +. Given all of the positive reivews of TGC and its proximity to my house, I will probably try it again, but order something other than my beloved falafel.

I had the steak gyro with only steak sauce, mushrooms, and cheese. The mushrooms looked canned and I would have preferred fresh but it's not a big deal. This is the first time I've had a gyro other then a bite of someone else's and it was fantastic! The meat was so tender and you get a lot of food for the money. I will definitely be coming back!

Another great visit, this time, for my birthday. Had the Gyro Supreme (I think; has tomatoes, lettuce as extra). Tasted excellent. Few praises: -Pepperocini on gyro - Nicea! -Nice amount of feta and tzatziki sauce. -Helpful cashier. Recommended Doner Kabob. I have read about this too on here. OK, OK. I will get one next time! Few complaints: -I dined in for the first time and was dismayed to see plastic utensils. I hate plastic utensils. Maybe I should bring my own? -Could have use a little more tomato. Maybe next time, I should just ask for more. -Wish there were some nice beers for sale. Oh well, Coca-Cola on tap is OK too.

Fantastic döner! This place is the closest I've come to legitimate döner since I was in Germany. The tzatziki sauce was incredible and the other ingredients were similarly great. The people who were running it were very friendly. This place's location is strange though - the dark homes behind it seemed unfriendly for 8:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. Don't let this fool you though; it is quite amazing, and the main street off of which it is located (Gravois Rd., I think) is fairly busy/lit. If you're in the area, stop by and get some döner kebap for ~$6 - it's worth it.

Really good. Gyro was excellent. Donor kabob was delicious. More fries than 2 can eat for $2. Will return to sample more of the menu.

If you like gyros, you'll like this place. The Doner is huge and enough for two. Chicken gyro is good too, for those looking to at least attempt to be healthy.

I have been here about 10 times now and always get the same thing: Doner kebab with cheese. I lived in Germany for a short period and gyro company is the closest I've found to authentic doners in stl. The young man that takes the orders is extremely friendly and helpful. You don't come here for the atmosphere, you come here for a filling tasty meal for a low price.

One of the best gyros in STL. I eat here almost once a week. Being within walking distance actually helped us select our current residence.

Everything was good. We tried the chicken doner kabob, the beef/lamb gyro supreme, the fries and the the hummus. The hummus was the best I had ever had (have to give that nod The Vine) but it was still good for a small place. I was very happy with this place and have back since my first visit last week. I think they even accept debit cards using the square but I will go with cash anyway. I would recommend this place to anyone and now I know where to satisfy my gyro cravings.

When I was looking for someplace different to get a gyro near work, I came across The Gyro Company and trusted in the reviews I saw...and I have to say thank you to all those who found this place before me! My husband and I stopped in and split a gyro supreme and a Doner Kabob with fries. The staff was friendly, the floors and tables were clean, service was quick and the food was hot & delicious! The desserts looked good, but I was so full I couldn't eat another bite. We will definitely stop by again...and I took a menu so I can call in an order to take home for dinner!

I have tried all the gyros in St Louis and this little place tops the list. Surprisingly, I don't even think the owners are Greek. I haven't been back since they added fries to their menu, so I'm headed there soonest. The baklava is to die for as well! Why can't we have gyros in Soulard? Why?

  • Kate W.

These are the best gyros in the city, hands down. The meat is ridiculous, it melts in your mouth. Yeah, they don't accept credit cards, and we have not gone there a few times because we didn't have cash, but how can you be upset with a business owner who tells you to just bring in the money next time? It makes my heart swell. Sweet people.

Yummy yummy I got lamb & beef in my tummy. Very sweet owners kid in town for spring break. He treated us very well and served us our food while answering all of our questions. Food was quick hot and fresh. I had the Doner Kabab which is basically like a gyro on some nice very soft not chewy bread that is very easy to eat. Fries were hot out of the grease and fresh. Another place where my raspberry tea fetish was served.......Amen Pretty reasonable prices, small whole in the wall but good good food. Love my Gyro meat here! It's very tender and tasty and not the least bit chewy or over done....Simply yum!

This is a great little mom & pop Gyro house on Gravois, near Hampton. They serve tasty wraps, subs, gyros, falafel sandwiches, specialty pita pizzas, salads and scrumptious desserts, including baklava and tiramisu. There is not an item on the menu that is over $6. Average price is $4.50. They have a substantial carry out business; a small, no frills indoor dining area and some outdoor seating. The owners (a mother & her two sons) are incredibly friendly. In fact, when we found out that they only take checks or cash (we had neither), they told us to go ahead and order and that we could come back and pay them later. Say what? We're customers for life now... The doner kabob, gyro, salads, and desserts are pretty phenomenol. I haven't tried the wraps or pizzas yet, but they are cheap and sound yummy. The falafel is a little dry.

I don't like to brag, but, for you, fellow yelper, sitting at your computer, scouting out for some good eats, I'll step outside my comfort zone: I know Greek food. This is not good Greek food. The best thing about our meal (a gyro salad, 2 gyro supremes, a side of fries) were the pitas (the only thing I'd want to eat here, again). The three worst things were: black olives in the salad (where are the kalamata olives!?) and the poor tzatziki substitute (like a thin, plain greek yogurt spread all over everything), and finally: the disturbing absence of tomatoes! Fries were blah. Any fast food joint fries are superior. In such a large city, I say go explore for better Greek than this place.

OMG, this is FANTASTIC. I drive by everyday and never stopped by until just now. The hummus is phenomenal! Gyros, none better in St. Louis. If you have not had the Greek food here, you haven't had greek food in Saint Louis.

My favorite gyro place in St. Louis!! Gyros are fresh. It's a south city place - small, plain and just great! I always get the Gyro deluxe and it will feed me for like 3 days, its huge! You can eat here there are a few tables but mostly take out. I try to call ahead because they get busy but never really wait too long! Love it.

This place is my favorite gyro place in St. Louis. I'm from Chicago and they remind me of the gyros places in Chicago's Greek Town. The price is reasonable and you have to try the doner kabob.

We've made several visits at this point, and the gyros are consistently excellent. I live very near (within easy walking distance) of another Gyro place, but this is worth the short drive. Prices are reasonable, fries are incredible (hot and perfect), and the family (assuming here) that runs it is friendly but not pushy. I've been a big fan of Greek food in four states now, and this is as good as any I've gotten, even at the Greek festivals in Boston. My kids will eat here, which is really saying something!

The best gyros in St louis! I especially like the donner kebab... the bread is fluffy and delicious! If you pay with card, bring cash for tips... they don't have the option to add a tip to your bill which is confusing to me... I always feel bad when I pay with card only for this reason. I just don't carry cash anymore.

Stopped here for lunch while traveling cross-country and got the gyro supreme. Even as I am writing this review, I am salivating over the thought of their food. This place is a super small hole in the wall that is best if you are grabbing take-out. I phoned in my order and was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. The food: Even as I am writing this review, I am salivating over the thought of their amazing gyro. The pita bread was soft but with good chew, the meat was succulent and tender, the feta or greek cheese was well balanced and not overpowering, and accompanying vegetables in it provided a great balance. I also got the tiramisu; all I can say is that it was one of the best I have had in a long time. The ladyfingers had great chew and tenderness, the coffee sauce component provided good depth and the cream topping was perfectly not too sweet. All around A+ lunch that was wicked cheap. I wish I lived in St. Louis so that I could eat their food every day!

Was excited to finally make it here because of all the good reviews, but was disappointed for all the hype. Classic gyro and falafel were good, just not great. Both seemed to need more spice: falafel seemed no more spiced than a hush puppy, and gyro meat was more like roast beef. Meh. Would choose this place over fast food choices in the area, but wouldn't make a special trip.

You can't choose a wrong dish here. I usually order a veggie gyro with hummus instead of tzaziki and love it. The veggies are crisp and fresh tasting and the hummus is slightly spicy. Their regular gyros are also quite tasty and you can see them cut the meet off right in front of you. Service is fast and friendly.

After a long day of moving the bf and I decided to grab something to eat and the Gyro Company was on my mind! We arrived around 1 on a Thursday afternoon and the place was actually pretty busy. There were a few people eating at tables and a few more in line to order. When it was my turn to order I knew what I wanted and ordered the chicken gyro with a side of fries. I think my bf ordered the traditional gyro or something like that. We made it to the beginning of the line to pay for our food and grabbed a few cups for drinks as well. While we were waiting for our food the place kept getting busier-I guess everyone had the same idea to eat lunch here. Not a bad choice at all. When our food was ready it was brought over to our table and looked delicious. I was so hungry and couldn't wait to dig in. Not gonna lie...I had no idea how to eat this gyro; it was huge! I actually used a fork and a knife for a little bit to help make it smaller before trying to use my hands. The chicken meat was so tender and juicy and oh so flavorful; I am so glad to be eating since I think I was famished. the fries were hot, fresh and tasty too. I am so glad I now live close to The Gyro Company since I can see a lot more gyros to be eaten in my life. Next time I will try some of the dessert; I forgot to order it the other day which means I'll just have to go back soon!

Great sandwich joint! The winners here in my opinion are the subs. Some slightly different fillings on really nice bread, and more manageable for one person than the Gyro or the Doner kebab. Nothing really exotic or surprising here, the real standout being everything I've had has been good quality and not sloppily made. Maybe the most exotic thing is that it's a Bosnian business (hence the Doner style sandwich) Also, it's a pretty decent lunch bargain all things considered. Just about 9 dollars for a side salad (simple, but fresh) a regular sub and a bottle of water. All for tasty food made to order and won't leave you feeling gross.

Solid gyro. We each got the Supreme. Also, the baklava was some of the best I have ever had, and we just got back from a trip to Turkey and Greece.

Very beautiful mom and pop shop, don't let the place fool you it's quite large and they have a back room for additional seating.

This place is pretty cool. The staff is acceptional however coming from a person who has had some great gyros this place is bland. There was not enough flavor in the meat which left me wondering when it gets better. This place is nowhere close to the best gyro I've had but I would definitely cone back.

Easy to miss when finding the place, but you miss the food after going there! A friend of mine who I usually have lunch with on a monthly basis dragged me out here and kept trying to talk me into getting the 'doner kebab'. I kept telling him I don't like shish kebabs, but he said a doner kebab is nothing like that. He was right. I gave in, and it is probably the best Middle-Eastern fast-food item I've ever eaten. What's so unique about the place is, for one its small (which may not sit well with some people), but you see everything that goes on in the back. Like how its cooked. Even the meat that's cooked on a spit(?), and all their fixins. Their desserts are also fabulous. Bottom line: Get the doner kebab with fries and a sodie, and you'll be hooked like me!

This place is quite an awesome little corner. They have fresh amazing gyros and desserts! They have gyros in Peta and gyros on Bosnian bread, both delicious. Something to mention is they have amazing thick delicious fresh fried for $1.60!! The portions of everything are abundant and the tiramisu is fantastic! The place is a bit on the small side, about 6 tables. It's Bosnian operated and can't get more authentic than that! Great find!

This place is a lot like the gyro grill in that you get a delicious Greek meal without having to tip, sit down, etc. It is wonderful to take on the go for a quick meal. Infinitely better than fast food. Every town in America should have fast Greek. Love the meat! It is a small place without a whole lot of seating. It might fill up but I haven't seen all of the tables taken. All of your food is prepared in the very same room so you can see exactly what's happening which is neat. My favorite thing is the gyro salad. Their meat is more thinly sliced than some others. They use black olives which is unusual but no pits is a plus. Feta costs extra. You can make it a meal with maybe fries and a drink. They have very reasonably priced baklava and other desserts. Seriously it's impossible not to order. They even have kids menu items so this is a very clean and well thought out establishment with an efficient use of space. Compliments to the owner. It doesn't have like saganaki or great atmosphere so it won't replace your sit down Greek places but it's a wonderful place for price and convenience.

Everyone in St. Louis should have a favorite go-to gyro place by now. Mine is The Gyro Company. They have a lot of variety on the menu, including traditional food along with more Americanized versions. Everything tastes good. I've taken many friends there and everyone finds something to love. My favorite is the Cheesy Greek Squeeze. There's a moderately sized dining room to eat in, but I almost always get my food to go. Enjoy.

Tried for the first time today; called in a take away order. Absolutely delicious! My husband and I both had the Gyro Supreme and Mediterranean Salad. Gyro packed with meat; just enough feta, shaved onions, and Tzsaki (sp?) sauce to set off the meat. Nice fresh pita, too. Salad was a generous portion, with crisp greens, olives, shaved red onions, cucumbers, and feta, topped with a handmade vinaigrette. Outstanding! Very nice people, too. The man who took the order threw in a free dessert when I told him it was my husband's birthday.

The food is amazing and authentic! Front dinning room is small so we ordered take out. The pretty lady that took our order was very nice and really knew how to manage the crowd of customers that came in directly after us. I LOVE gyros and they have a nice selection from classic to supreme you can even get them on a sandwich style bread instead of the pita. They only con is the parking situation and the small Dining room, but the food and service was too good to take away from their rating. We got the supreme gyro, fries which were good, it's hard to mess up fries, and the tiramisu which was also great.

The Gyro Company is good! Why should you listen to me? Well, for one, I don't even particularly like gyros and I loved my meal. That's the glory about The Gyro Company. Although, its name suggests that it's a company that grinds out gyros all day, they really have something for everyone - subs, pita pizzas, etc. And that's a marvel, because it's the tiniest of operations. I went with a chicken gyro and fries. The chicken gyro is carved right off the spit just like the traditional gyros and it was an extremely favorable mouthful. (Note to Gyro Company - larger napkins needed). I would only change one thing the next time I order it (and there will be a next time) and that would be to add feta cheese. The place is tiny and the word is out. It was packed when I went for lunch on Saturday. Be prepared that you may have to get your order to go because seats are scarce. Kudos to the hard-working staff. The line or crowd never got out of control although I watched a ton of people come and go happily with their orders.

A small "hole in the wall" place. The locals fill this place at lunch. Seating for only about 15 so get there before noon if you want a seat. I got the supreme and a Mexican Coke for less than 10 bucks. Excellent!

The best gyro I've ever had, and I've had gyros all across California and stl. I had it with the Bosnian bread. Super soft, tasty fresh bread and juicy slices of lamb sliced in front of you off the roaster. And it's not expensive at all, but it was a giant serving. Great place. My new favorite gyro spot.

Delicious and fast. Worth the drive from anywhere. I get the chicken gyro and crinkle fries, and it's amazing every time. Spanakopita is also delicious, as is everything we've ever tried from the desert counter.

The Doner Kebab is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The Gyro Supreme reigns supreme. I am so glad I live close to this place. If you love gyros, GO!
